Nicole Perkins MA, LMFT

My greatest inspiration comes from the incredible women—past and present—who have overcome adversity to fulfill their life’s purpose. Their resilience, courage, and determination have shaped my belief that perseverance and grit can coexist with compassion, vulnerability, and the power of embracing our authentic selves. Inspired by these trailblazers, I pursued a career in mental health and founded A Life in Balance, LLC, a space dedicated to emotional healing, personal growth, and lasting transformation.

 

With nearly two decades of experience as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I have been privileged to help individuals, couples, and families navigate life’s challenges. My journey began at Pepperdine University in Malibu, California, where I earned master’s degrees in psychology and clinical psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy. Over the years, I have worked in diverse settings, including private practice, hospitals, schools, and intensive outpatient programs. I have also served as an Assistant Professor of Psychology, a Military and Family Life Counselor, and a Remote Telehealth LMFT, allowing me to bring a broad range of expertise to my work.

 

I specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), couples counseling, anxiety, depression, borderline personality disorder (BPD), and stress management. No matter the challenge, I strive to create a safe, supportive, and judgment-free space where my clients can explore their emotions, heal from past wounds, and build the tools they need for a more fulfilling life.

 

My mission is to provide compassionate, practical solutions that empower my clients to overcome obstacles and step into the life they truly deserve. Together, we will address emotional pain, identify patterns that no longer serve you, and develop effective coping strategies. Through our work, you will gain deeper self-awareness, strengthen relationships, and cultivate a mindset that fosters resilience and personal growth. Every step forward is a step toward the future you envision, and I am here to guide and support you along the way.

 

Beyond my work as a therapist, I am also an author, sharing insights and strategies to help individuals navigate life with greater clarity and confidence. When I’m not in session or writing, you’ll likely find me enjoying a good book, listening to music, or spending time with loved ones. I also have a passion for restoring furniture, exploring new restaurants, and attending live concerts. Even outside of work, my passion for mental health is never far from my mind—I’m always researching, learning, and seeking innovative ways to help my clients and readers thrive.
