Dialectical Behavior Therapy Skills Training Program
Learning, Practicing, and Implementing Essential Core Skills
Thank you for considering our Dialectical Behavior Therapy Skills Training Program. At A Life in Balance, we strive to apply the most effective, scientifically verified strategies to assist you in reaching your objectives. We will treat you with the compassion you deserve as you work to build a fulfilled life.
What To Expect
Since the DBT Skills Training Groups are designed to complement your individual therapy, our program includes both group and individual therapy. As a result, to be eligible for our program, participants must be attending both individual therapies, as well as weekly DBT Skills Training Groups. It is not required to have individual therapy with one of our therapists.
As there are 24 weeks of Skills Training Groups, you will need to commit to attending all 24 weeks of treatment. Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) has proven to be effective, but only if you are dedicated to practicing the skills taught and consistently attend group session. DBT skills are taught three modules: Distress Tolerance, Interpersonal Effectiveness and Emotion Regulation. Mindfulness, the core skill, will be taught at the beginning of each module and practiced throughout. New participants may enter at the beginning of each module, so if a group is full or in the middle of a module, you can begin weekly individual therapy and be placed on a waiting list for the next group opening.

Here at A Life in Balance, we offer DBT skills groups in a virtual setting, and pride ourselves on making online learning interactive and stimulating. We use many skills and techniques methods of instruction including power point presentations, videos, discussions, white boarding, activities, worksheets, role plays and games. Online live classes run once a week and all classes are recorded for later viewing to ensure any missed class can easily be caught up. Taking our online DBT course is a great option for those who are unsure about an in-person group or require flexibility due to work, school, or family obligations. An online platform also makes the course completely accessible as you attend from the comfort of your home, from anywhere in the world!
